Diagrams
Doczoid's visual canvas — shapes, edges, grid snapping, anchor points, styling, and zoom.
A Diagram is a visual canvas of shapes (called nodes) connected by edges. Diagrams show up in two places: alongside the text in a Doc, and on each slide of a Zoid. The drawing tools are the same in both.
The shape toolbar
Diagrams support a wide range of shapes, including:
- Basic shapes — rectangle, rounded rectangle, circle, triangle, diamond, star, pentagon, hexagon, cross, chevron.
- Flowchart symbols — terminator, parallelogram, document, predefined process, manual input, preparation, connector, database.
- Arrows & lines — single and double arrows; thin, fat, and dotted lines.
- Content — text, images, and emoji.
- Containers — framed groups that hold and theme other shapes.
- PortalSnips — reusable content inserted as a live element.
Drawing and connecting
- Shapes snap to a 20px grid as you drag and resize them, keeping layouts tidy.
- Connect shapes with edges that attach to anchor points on each side (top, right, bottom, left) and render as smooth bezier curves.
- Zoom from 0.25× to 2× to work on detail or see the whole picture.
Styling shapes
Each shape can be styled with:
- Fill, stroke, and text color
- Stroke width and font size
- Text alignment — horizontal and vertical
- Style presets — quick named looks: default, primary, secondary, success, warning, danger, info, and muted.
Grouping with containers
When a diagram gets busy, wrap related shapes in a Container. Containers frame a group, give it a title, and apply a color theme — with automatic shading by nesting depth — so a complex diagram reads as a set of clearly labeled regions.
Where diagrams live
- In a Doc — a single diagram sits alongside the text in a resizable split view.
- In a Zoid — every slide is its own diagram canvas.
Reusing diagrams
Capture any region of a diagram as a PortalSnip and reuse it across other docs, diagrams, and presentations. Edit the original and every copy updates.
