Core Concepts
The vocabulary of Doczoid — teams, docs, zoids, diagrams, blocks, containers, and PortalSnips, and how they relate.
Doczoid is built from a small set of ideas. Once these click, the rest of the app follows naturally. Each highlighted term links to its own page.
Teams
A Team is the home for all your content. Every document, presentation, and reusable snippet belongs to a team, and team members share access according to their role (owner, admin, member, or viewer). If you work alone, you still have a team — a team of one.
Docs
A Doc is a Notion-style text document. You write in blocks — paragraphs, headings, lists, and more — and a doc can carry a Diagram alongside its text. Docs are for notes, specs, wikis, and documentation.
Zoids — Presentations
A Zoid is a presentation. Where a Doc is a flowing page of text, a Zoid is a sequence of slides, each a 16:9 canvas you fill with shapes, text, images, and connections. You can play a Zoid full-screen in presentation mode.
Both kinds of content are technically documents — a doc has the type document, a Zoid has the type zoid — but in everyday use they're simply Docs and Zoids.
Diagrams
A Diagram is a visual canvas of shapes (nodes) connected by edges. Diagrams appear both alongside the text in a Doc and on each slide of a Zoid. Shapes snap to a grid and connect via anchor points with smooth bezier-curve edges.
Containers
A Container is a special shape that wraps and groups other shapes. Drop shapes inside to keep them together, give the group a title, and apply a color theme that styles the nested shapes automatically — including different shades by nesting depth.
PortalSnips
A PortalSnip is a reusable piece of content — a block of text or a region of a diagram — that you can insert in many places at once. Update the original and every copy updates with it. PortalSnips are owned by the team and shared across all its docs and presentations.
Collaboration
Doczoid is multiplayer. Teammates edit the same document live, see each other's presence and cursors, leave comments, and rely on automatic version history. Notifications keep everyone in the loop.
